The Pet Hospital in 1948!  Check out the cars!

The Pet Hospital has been serving the Los Angeles/West Hollywood area for over 70 years.  The building was first built in 1926. From 1926 to 1933 there is currently an unknown history but in 1933 we know that Dr. Diller ran a veterinary care center.  He partnered with Dr. Eisenhour in 1937/38 and the building was under Dr. Eishenhour's guidance until 1946.  Dr. Philip C. Olson purchased the practice in 1946 and had a great reputation in the area for his veterinary skills and his compassionate care.  The Pet Hospital is pictured above in 1948.  He served the area until 1971 when he sold the practice to Dr. Lee Calsyn.

Dr.Calsyn currently still owns the practice with his wife.  In 1971, the veterinary clinic officially changed its name from "Pet Hospital" to "Laurel Pet Hospital."   Dr. Calsyn was the only doctor in the clinic for many years and also provided on-call overnight emergency service.  In 1975 the clinic went through its first inside remodel but the front was kept the same as seen in the photo above.  The practice grew to a multi-doctor practice in the late 70's and early 80's.  Dr. Mike Menegay and Dr. Steve Quady were some of the great associates that helped the hospital serve the community.   The hospital joined the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) in 1986 the same year West Hollywood became an official city.  We are one of the few hospitals in the country to achieve the 25 year award from AAHA which we received in 2006.  In 1998, we had a little setback when El Nino was causing massive damage around the area.  The water damage to our roof was so extensive that the roof partially collapsed fortunately when we were closed.  A temporary roof was put up that year, and a major front remodel was completed in the fall of 2001.  To this day Laurel Pet Hospital is continually growing, and we are planning another mini remodel in the next year to further improve our facility and complete a second story.  We are all excited!

In sum, we are proud of our long tradition of serving the community and we look forward to providing veterinary care into the future.
